• Discussions between 9 rat lovers about starting a rat club in the Midlands.

January 2001

• A group of rat lovers come together online to discuss the formation of the Midlands Rat Club.
• First show planned for 31st March 2001

February 2001

• 17th February - The infamous first meeting held in the 'broom cupboard' at the Wallsend NRC Show.
• The first magazine is planned, to be called 'Rat Chat'.
• Club logo designed by Su M
• The first show is postponed due to the national foot and mouth outbreak.

May 2001

• The first show is rescheduled for 30th June 2001
• The original MRC website goes live.
• Member levels climb to nine memberships, including two family memberships.
